God created all living things. His intention and plan is that living things grow, thrive, and be productive. God’s greatest creations were man and woman. Genesis 1:27 says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” We are image bearers of the One who created us. We are to show off His character.

How can we make sure that when others see us they see Him? The only way that can happen is if we’re consistently growing in our spiritual lives. It is God’s plan that His followers grow up in Him. This is how we please Him. Colossians 1:7 says we are to “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in the knowledge of God.” Ephesians 4:15-16 (Msg) says “God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love, like Christ in everything.”

So, what should the goal of our lives be? It should be to produce the kind of fruit that pleases God and the only way to do that is by making sure we’re growing up in our knowledge of Him. We are designed to grow!
